I had the opportunity to go see Dale Chihuly's installation the other day at the Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens. (Good thing, too, because it's heading out.) Chihuly shapes, colors, and textures glass in some pretty remarkable ways. Whether it's futuristic neon lights made to resemble a tree's canopy (in abstraction) or a pillar of glass that seems to be inspired by the kelp from the Sargasso Sea, his designs a treat for the eyes. I had resisted going during the day because I heard the illuminated glass was so remarkable at night.

Isometric projection is a form of graphical projection — more specifically, an axonometric projection. It is a method of visually representing three-dimensional objects in two dimensions, in which the three coordinate axes appear equally foreshortened and the angles between any two of them are 120°. Isometric projection is one of the projections used in drafting engineering drawings.
The term isometric comes from the Greek for "equal measure", reflecting that the scale along each axis of the projection is the same (this is not true of some other forms of graphical projection).
One of the advantages of isometric perspective in engineering drawings is that 60° angles are easy to construct using only a compass and straightedge. (more info)

Excellent article sur le blog Neatorama, concernant l'évolution du design des logos des grandes marques de constructeurs automobiles, depuis leur création à aujourd'hui.

Les différentes évolutions graphiques sont assez intéressantes, car elles reflètent l'évolution générale du design dans notre vie de tous les jours, au fil des années.

On constate par exemple que toutes les marques  font évoluer leur design vers un style toujours plus épuré, clair, avec souvent l'ajout de reflets et du volume. 

Ca me rappelle l'évolution graphique du style web 2.0 tiens ! :-)
